Publishing Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to apprentice for publishing an established alternative health and personal empowerment magazine. Issues has been a consistent and growing voice throughout BC and Alberta for healers and energy workers as well as providing a positive viewpoint on our changing and challenging lifestyles. We are looking for an individual willing to devote a minimum of one year to learn the art of desktop publishing. It would be good if you knew something about writing and editing but that will not be the focus. Even better would be that you already have some computer skills that you share along with an energetic attitude and a willingness to look at the big picture and invest some of your time and energy for the long term possibility of eventually managing all aspects of Issues Magazine, if the fit is right. You would live onsite at the beautiful and remote Johnsons Landing Retreat Center, which is two hours north of Nelson, and have access to all our amenities and natural setting. Living accommodations, vegetarian meals and a small monthly stipend will be provided. We already have a house cat who is not wanting company and since we are a wildlife sanctuary we are not wanting a dog either. None of us drink coffee, smoke or have addictive habits other than working hard to create the life we envison. We are learning the art of nonviolent communication, we practice yoga at least once a week and have regular evening meetings as a check-in for the people of the community. If this life style appeals to you and you have a year or two to commit to growing yourself and want to be of service and help our fledgling community to grow please give Angele, Richard or Ian a call 1-888-756-9929 or 1-250-366-0038.

Creating Community

The Johnsonıs Landing Retreat Center is where Issues is published from and together we are in the process of Creating Community and are looking for individuals who want to share our vision... of being a non-denominational Spiritual Eco Village focused around the development of Body, Mind & Spirit, with similar values to the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. We are looking for a computer person, gardeners, builders, a vegetarian cook and many helpers... if you want to get to know us better we ask that you take our Center Life program which costs $245 for one week. You will work with staff for 4 hours, 5 days of the week, with the rest of that week for personal endevours like hiking to Fry Creek, canoeing or enjoying our pristine lake, resting and/or reading books. If you would like to stay after the one week program there is a no cost option as long as you are willing to work 35 hours a week or pay the extra and Our future includes turning the Retreat Centre and Issues Magazine into a non-profit organization that can continue past our lives. We want to evolve as a demonstration center for alternative living, where the people can walk lightly on the earth, growing most of our food and living a bit more simply than city folks. The www.JohnsonsLandingRetreat.bc.ca has a website if you wish to explore further the various retreats we offer.
