Frequently Asked Questions For Healers

I do not have access to a computer - can I book space by phone and then send in the forms later on?

We require a completed form by e-mail or regular post before assigning.

What will my space include?

All areas have chairs, a small table and a lamp, plus bodywork table or mats if required.

What does the Healing spaces have?

The Healing Oasis has the sign up and waiting area and 3 large rooms for practitioners.

Readers Room - sectioned areas for readers/counsellors.

Quiet Bodywork Room - areas are curtained for mainly-silent modalities.

Talking Bodywork Area - sectioned-off areas for non-silent modalities.

The Cave & Games Room - private rooms for modalities that involve talking, toning, chanting, instruments, etc..

The Sanctuary is a trailer just past the Labyrinth.

What do I do on arrival at Naramata Centre?

Check in at the Registration in Columbia Hall, pay any fees and collect your room key, if you are staying on site, name tag and work-schedule. Then visit the Healing Oasis in McLaren Hall to let us know that you have arrived.

How do I know where to work?

Your work schedule slip of paper will indicate your space, and a volunteer will direct you once you are there. There is also an overall schedule with places and times at the sign-up desk, and each individual space has a sign stating who is working and when.

How will I know who has booked with me?

Check the sign-up sheets at the Healing Oasis desk, collect your person from the waiting area. After the session, please escort that person to the waiting area and collect your next appointment.

Last year I kept getting told I was running over time.

If you consistently ran over time with half-hour sessions, opt for one-hour sessions this year. If you offered one-hour sessions and still ran over, please modify your treatment to fit the time.

Is it noisy in the Healing Oasis?

We ask for voices to be kept low and conversation to a minimum, but there are a lot of people and only a few walls. Some healers find that meditation techniques before beginning the sessions helps both givers and receivers.

What if I do not know until the last minute if I can bring my table?

Please do not volunteer your table unless you are certain you can bring it. If it then becomes possible, e-mail Christina to see if it is still needed.

I do not want anyone else using my table.

Then do not offer to share it.

Can I work ONLY three hours in the Healing Oasis?

Yes, if you wish, and pay 50% of the Festival Registration fees.

Can I work one time-slot as a reader, and the other as a bodyworker.

You can choose when and where to work, as long as your choices are clear on the application form, i.e:
Sat 8:45 Reading Tarot, and Sun 12:15 providing Massage.

I talk a lot/make noise/burn sage during sessions.

Ask to book one of the private spaces. Other work-spaces are sectioned off with curtains and room dividers, so all sounds and smells will be noticed by those around you.

What is supplied in the Healing Oasis?

We provide some pillows, pillowcases, sheets and blankets but you can bring your own please do. We do not provide oils, candles, music, or crystals, etc.. If you are not bringing your own table, there will be one provided.

What if I do not like my work space?

We try to fit you in according to your needs, but it is not always possible based on what is available. Please do not set up yourself up in someone elses place and move their belongings (yes, it has happened).

What about meals?

Food is provided free to healers all weekend, or you may order meals and eat at the Naramata dining room (see above for the cost or read the Spring Festival section of Issues Magazine).

What kind of food is provided?

In the morning there will be granola, toast and jam. For lunch or dinner there will be soup, sandwiches, cheese, crackers, fruit, cookies and veggie sticks.

I like coffee and tea where can I get some?

There will be a small coffee machine downstairs all weekend so you can help yourself. Upstairs there will be fresh coffee served at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm. Hot water for tea is always available. Upstairs in the lounge, Downstairs near the door and Columbia Hall outside. There will be many different kinds of tea.

We ask that you bring your own mug so that we do not have too wash so many cups or you can leave a donation for the dishwasher if you forget.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes and label it clearly if you do not want anyone else to eat it. There is a fridge in both locations. Some are bringing food to share with others, and if so it will be much appreciated.

Can I cook a simple meal?

Yes, we have a stove and microwave at both locations.
